THE STORY SO FAR

When Ken died we wondered where to direct any contributions that people wanted to give. Ken's brother Jeff told us that the Rainforest Action Network was his favorite charity. He also told us that not only was it his favorite charity, it was his only one.

The story goes that Ken called RAN on their 800 number and told them he really appreciated their work and sent them $10, which was all he had at the time.

When we send RAN contributions, we always tell them that Ken's family and friends want to add to Ken's original $10. There is more to this story - stay tuned.

HERE IS THE REST OF THE STORY

On January 22, 1999, we were getting ready for the Fundraiser, which was scheduled for January 24, 1999. .

Karen was going through a collection of Ken’s drawings and other materials in search of pictures to frame. In the process of doing this, she came across a copy of a letter Ken had written to RAN. We had been through these materials many times and had never seen this letter before. The date of the letter was January 23, 1989, almost ten years to the day. .

The most amazing thing to Karen and me is that we had been carrying out Ken’s wishes without even knowing it!
